Elementary School
Western Academy Charter School utilizes the CHILD (Changing How Instruction for Learning is Delivered) model of instruction in our K -5th grade classes. This model of instruction utilizes a multi sensory, team teaching method designed to meet the individual needs and goals of each student. It incorporates intensive hands on activities and technology within a variety of academic stations and integrates thematic units, manipulatives and visual, auditory and kinesthetic activities to gain knowledge, learn problem solving skills and enhance creative expression. This model provides an environment of active learning where student collaboration and cooperation is promoted. Student cooperation and collaboration and the use of technology plays an important role in the student directed learning. CHILD creates 21st Century Learners.
