The staggered approach to physical reopening is in place to safely and successfully institute protocols and best practices for social distancing and sanitization to minimize the likelihood of COVID-19 cases from occurring in the school buildings.
No matter what phase of reopening we are in, safety is, and always will be, a top priority for Western Academy.
Throughout the summer, the Administration has been busy creating a plan that includes protocols and procedures for increased safety, sanitation, and social distancing. We have also had to create an Innovative Learning Plan to include distance learning with specific expectations for students and teachers. Please review the attachment below to see the details of this plan.
The following school improvements are currently underway as we get ready for the safe return of students to campus:
•Infrared thermometers for daily temperature screenings of staff and students
•Purchase of PPE and face coverings
•Installation of hand sanitizer wall units in hallways and at entrance/exit doors
•Water bottle refill stations. Water fountains will be shut off
•Single line hallway transitions based on mapped out routes
•Floor markings and decals for traffic patterns in hallways and social distancing
•Signage throughout school to remind students and staff of increased hygiene and cleaning practices
•Creation of a separate clinic area for students exhibiting fever or COVID-19 type symptoms
