Enrollment FAQ's
How do I enroll my child for the 2025-2026 school year? Apply using the application system on our website. Click on 'Apply Now' and create an account. Applications must be fully submitted to be processed. Once processed, your child's application will enter our enrollment lottery.
Is there a cost to enroll my child? No. Western Academy is a tuition-free public charter school. There are no enrollment fees.
What are the application criteria for the STEAM Advanced Academy? Students applying for the STEAM Academy are evaluated based on academic criteria, including grades, test scores, and behavior. Detailed criteria are available on the "Advanced STEAM Academy" section of our website.
Do current students get priority for the STEAM program? Yes. Current Western Academy students have priority enrollment for STEAM seats when transitioning into middle school.
Who else gets enrollment priority? Priority categories, in order, include:
- Current Western Academy students (STEAM seats).
- Siblings of currently enrolled students.
- Children of Western Academy board members and staff.
- Children of active military personnel.
- Zip code priority for K-5 and grades 6-8 (after previous priorities).
What are the zip codes that get priority? The zip codes receiving priority enrollment are: 33411, 33414, 33449, 33467, and 33470. Proof of residency must be uploaded in the application to receive this priority.
Can middle school students apply for both the regular academic program and the STEAM Academy? Yes. Middle school students (grades 6-8) can apply to both programs by creating separate applications within our online application system.
When is the lottery drawing for enrollment? The lottery drawing occurs in early April. You will receive an email notification regarding whether your child secured a seat or is on the waitlist.
What if I don't receive an email after the lottery drawing? Please first check your spam/junk email folder. If you still don't see an email, contact our enrollment coordinator directly at 561-792-4123 or email [email protected].
Do siblings receive enrollment priority? Yes. Siblings of currently enrolled students receive priority if their application is submitted by the deadline.
Are children of staff and board members given priority? Yes, children of staff members and board members receive enrollment priority, provided their application is submitted on time.
Do children of active military families have priority? Yes. Children of active-duty military families receive priority enrollment when applications are timely submitted.
How will I know if my child secured a seat? The lottery drawing occurs in early April. You will receive an email notification at the email address provided in your child's application indicating whether your child has secured a seat or is placed on the waitlist.
What if I miss the application deadline? Applications received after the deadline will automatically be added to the waitlist in the order they are received.
Can I tour the school before enrolling my child? Yes. Families are encouraged to attend Open House events, or schedule a tour after they are offered e a seat. Visit the Open House section of our website for dates or call the office to schedule a tour after being offered a seat.
Does my child's Western Academy application count as a District school choice option? No, Western Academy Charter School's application process is separate from the District's school choice application.
